Pretty loss

My opponent had just started her GameKnot career and quickly climbed to around 2400, where she still is, so my being crushed was inevitable. A very nice finish where I'm up two rooks and a knight, but that doesn't help much.

To copy Toppy

A double exchange sacrifice (if that's what it was) and a cute checkmate in a three minute game.

Queen gone wrong

My first win against a 1900+ player on GameKnot, thanks to an ill-advised queen excursion.

Surprisingly smooth

Beating the mighty LCP

28th better than 31st

My opponent here is FIDE rated 2266 at the moment so it is no surprise that it looks rather awkward for me during most of the game. I like my 28th move but spoil a decent position by not playing 31. Kh3. We blitzed this one out quickly from beginning to end.

Less fun after 18.hxg3

Playing a quick series of games against the same opponent I eventually got the chance to play a not too advanced combination after some mutual mistakes.

Surviving endgame torture

My key pushing opponent in this game has played Kasparov, and still he has only won one of four against me... The remaining games were as unpleasant draws as this one.

SchemingMind

Of the handful of games I played on SchemingMind this was one of the more successful, even if 21. ... Nxe3 and 27. ... Rf8 are a couple of quicker wins.

RedHotPawn

One of the better efforts from my short RedHotPawn career.

That's not an opening

I manage to extricate myself after a horribly defensive opening and even go on to win in the end. I like the final position but the road to it shouldn't be analysed too deeply.

A final combination that worked

Queen infiltration

Bad bishop

Pleasant turn of the tables

A swindle is never wrong

The end justifies the means

The final two-mover is the only thing worth looking at in this game.

My worst blunder ever

A rare Benoni win

Feeling like Anderssen for once

Good knights vs bad bishops

Bad start, better finish

Exchange blunders turn into sacs

Engines understand nothing

One of the few game scores I have left from my encounters with Chess Challenger 10 in the beginning of the 1980s. If I recall correctly the thing was claimed to pass Elo 2000 but 1200 was probably closer to the truth.

Maybe my best game

Reverse Benoni

Pleasant with black

KID swindle

Mutual mistakes

Short and sweet

Falkbeer feast

King's Gambit blitz

KID blitz

Benoni blitz

Schliemann blitz

Three minute FICS

One minute game

My only 1 0 game that isn't an utter embarrassment to look at.

Something went wrong somewhere

Queen endgame

The only tournament I arranged at GameKnot, and baptised Colonel Moreau Memorial, turned out to be a very even affair with many interesting games.

Rook vs two knights 1-0

14. Ng6 would have been nice

Messing it up

Polish swindle

Smashed Pirc

Nice 23rd

47. Qc8+ is better

Close shave with the Schliemann

QueenAlice

16. ... Rc4 is pretty inexplicable even by my standards, I recall blitzing out lots of games on various sites at this time and must have imagined some piece defending the rook. Instead of resigning I keep playing and with some assistance from my opponent eventually manage to win.

Thinking Machine

A game against Thinking Machine 4. Seeing a nice queen sacrifice I miss the mate in three beginning with 24. Rg7+ but things end well anyway.

Clueless

Clueless 1.4 is a bit below 2000 by CCRL so now and then I manage to win against it.

Shredder Elo 1700 level

The only way to make it exciting to play against as strong an engine as Shredder is to restrict the strength of it, here it is supposed to play 1700 level and that makes winning some games quite possible.

Lime

Lime 6.2 is not one of the stronger engines around, so it is possible to beat it now and then. CCRL has it as 2208 in 40 minute games.

Chess Challenger 10 miniature

My games against Chess Challenger 10 were usually less onesided than this example. Even when playing on its highest level, as here, it had a tendency to now and then make really bad moves and this was my quickest win ever against it. I think it averaged approximately 15 minutes per move.

First GameKnot effort

17. ... Kf7?

Outplayed
